IDEAS WANTED!!!!

I am teaching 2,3,&4 year olds VBS in a week. I have to decorate my class room in a Western/Cowboy/Dude Ranch Theme. I welcome any ideas you might have to make this a toddler friendly fun room.
I have a few things together all ready. I have made a fire pit and i am making a river with fish. I also bought a rope and tied several loops in it (calling it a lasso) for the kids to hold onto as we got to different stations. I wanted to make swinging doors like a salon would have but I am not sure tape and cardboard would hold up through a week of kids hanging on them.

IDEAS WANTED!!

  1. i love pennants. what about a bandanna pennant? are hay bales too much of a mess?

i went to a cowgirl birthday party once, and we ate beanie weanies and cornbread out of aluminum pie pans. that was fun for a campfire effect.

sounds like a fun time, corie!

  2. Saw a Martha Stewart show once where the kids panned for gold using those aluminum pie pans and the chocolate gold coins.

  3. My mom always did a fun game where you put up a sheet (maybe blue) and behind it have someone with some prizes. Make fishing lines for kids (like a long stick with fishing wire) and have them "toss their line"into the water (or in this case over the sheet). You might want to tie the prize on or put some kind of clip on the end of each line to attach prizes. Kids love it and there isn't much work involved :) Prizes can be simple things from the dollar tree, etc. You can obviously get more creative with this!

  4. Thanks guys for you ideas!!!!! They sound super fun! Gina, I bought bandannas today and now I have an idea of what to make with them. Also Lauren we are on the same wave length because I made a fishing pole yesterday. Ngogo I really like the panning for gold idea. I guess that means another Wal*Mart trip is in order.

  5. Corie,
You could put Bible verses or bits on the gold. "Jesus loves you" "Who made the sun?" or whatever your class dealt with that night/week.
