The Big Picture.

Every night after dinner our family has "Bible Time." We have gone through many children's bibles over the past few years but we recently receive by far our Favorite. It is called "The Big Picture Story Bible" It goes through the whole bible, Old and New Testament as one continuous story. It allows the kids to hear the Bible on their level WITHOUT watering it down. I love what the back of the book says, "The Bible is a big book, about a big God, who keeps a big promise!"
This particular children's bible shows you not a moralistic view on popular Bible figures but shows you how those figures or stories point to Christ.
Our copy came with a CD of the author reading through the book with signals for you to turn the page and our daughter has listened to it several times alone.
This book was a precious gift to us from dear friends for the birth of our second son and it has been a blessing to us already. Thanks M & B!!

Tea for Two

A sweet lady @ our former church blessed me with a sweet little tea set for two.

She noted in her card that it was for G and I to have tea together. So in my persuit to have a God honoring relationship with my daughter I thought this was a great way to spend some quality time together and have a little fun. I tried to be as into it as possible and make it feel like a real Tea Party. J was never to far from the action because there was real hot tea and treats being served.

P.S. I just got a new book in the mail. It was recommended by my sweet Sister in Christ. It is called "Girl Talk" by Carolyn Mahaney and Nicole Mahaney Whitacre. It is a book on Mother-Daughter Conversations on Biblical Womanhood. I am through chapter 2 and I am really enjoying it. It isn't a "how-to" fix all for relationships. It is a book that encourages us to teach our daughters the forgotten art of Biblical Womanhood that the Bible calls us to teach and live ourselves. I am convicted and encouraged while reading it knowing I have failed but reminded that God is gracious.

Have you heard of librivox?

In college I lived 6 hours from home. Just enough time to listen to an entire book on tape each way. I was totally addicted to them because I hate being in the car (ask my hubby). I am worse than a child. Books on tape were a lifesaver! I would go to Cracker Barrel and buy one on my way home, then on the way back they have an exchange program where you can trade it in and pay a couple of bucks for a new one. However I had a friend tell me about Librivox yesterday. These are FREE download able books!!! I haven't listened to one yet but I am so excited about this website. From what she said, the public reads a book that is out of circulation and uploads it to the website. The readers vary, some are monotone, some are theatrical. I am not sure what book is on my list first but I think I am going to go with a classic.

Do you know of any other cool websites that are a hidden treasure? Please Share!

Great Read!

I just finished this great book by Francine Rivers. A Lineage of Grace. I love almost all of her books and this one was one of my favorites. It is a compilation of 5 shorter books into one. It is about the women in the lineage of Christ. Some of the women I had heard of but not given much thought and this book shed new light on them. They also opened my eyes to the way God used sinners and the least of us to accomplish His good work. The story of Tamar was my favorite.
